Previewing Your Page

To get an idea of what your web page will look like on the Internet, and to test the links on your page, you must preview your page.

  1. If you haven't already done so, save the page you're working on by selecting File > Save from the menu bar.

  2. From the tool bar, click browse.

  3. Your page will display in the browser that you use on your computer, as others will see it on the web.

  4. Click your links to make sure they go where you want them to go.

Tips for New Users

When you save a file you give it a filename, such as mypage.htm. Different kinds of computers use different rules for naming files, but there are a few general rules to follow when naming a web page file:

  • Stick to letters and numbers. Don't use any special characters like # or %.
  • Instead of spaces, use hyphens (-) or underscores (_).
  • Use .htm as the file extension (the last part of a filename).
